After a long hiatus of 19 years, renowned singer Rathindranath Roy, who has received National Film Award twice for playback singing, has recorded a song for a local film.
The Ekushey Padak winning Bhawaiya singer has recorded the song Japita Jibon Ananda Lagan for Nishith Surjo’s upcoming directorial venture Payrar Chithi.
The song has been written and tuned by Surjo, while Musfiq Litu has arranged music of the song. It was recorded at Long Play Studio in the capital recently.
‘The song Japita Jibon Ananda Lagan is a kirtan song. These days we do not see many folk songs in our films so when I was approached about the song I agreed to render it right away. I have really enjoyed recording the song. I hope music lovers will find the song entertaining,’ said Rathindranath, who received National Film Award in 1979 and 1981 for singing playback songs in Nagordola and Ondho Bodhu respectively.
