Pakistan Under-16 team got a consolation victory over their Bangladeshi counterparts when they notched a 29-run win in the third and final one-day match of three-match series at Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna on Wednesday.
Opener Haseebullah was the star performer for the visiting side as he struck 129 off 141 balls and put up 143 runs in the opening stand with Sameer Saqib (64 off 84) to guide Pakistan to 279-8 in their stipulated 50 overs.
Shamsul Islam Epon finished with 5-45 while Mahfuzur Rahman Rabbi claimed 3-49 for Bangladesh Under-16 team.
In reply, Sakib Shahriar’s 60 off 82 balls and Mahfuzur and Rihad Khan’s contribution of 46 and 43 runs respectively could not help the hosts much as they were bowled out for 250 runs in 47.5 overs.
Aseer Mughal and Farhad Khan both chipped in with three wickets for the visitors.
Despite Bangladesh’s conceding a defeat in the last match, they won the series by virtue of their win in the first two matches.
Bangladesh beat Pakistan by 89 runs in the first game and recorded a 17-run victory in the next match to seal the series with one match to spare.
Bangladesh also beat Pakistan 1-0 in preceding two three-day match series.
Pakistani boys will leave Bangladesh today.
