Bangladeshi archers Hakim Ahmed Rubel and Ruman Shana reached the last-16 [pre-quarter-final stage] in the Men’s Recurve Individual event of the 2019 Hyundai Archery World Cup Stage-2 in Shanghai, China on Wednesday.
Rubel ranked 28th in the qualification round beat Ohi Kazuki of Japan by 6-2 points in the second round while Shana ranked 35th defeated Netherlands’s Steve Wijler by identical margin in the second round.
Rubel and Shana will now face fifth-ranked Lee Seungyun of South Korea and third-ranked Sjef Van Den Berg of Netherlands in their pre-quarter-final matches.
In the Men’s Recurve Team event, Bangladesh team comprised of Rubel, Ruman and Tamimul Islam defeated Belgium by 5-4 points in the pre-quarter-final stage and will play against Netherlands in the quarter-finals.
Bangladesh also defeated Australia by 5-4 points in the third round of the Mixed Recurve Team event and now will face Chinese Taipei in the pre-quarter-final. In the Women’s Compound Individual event, Sushmita Banik lost to Madeleine Ong Xue LI of Singapore by 141- 143 in the second round.
In the Women’s Recurve Individual event, Beauty Roy lost to Hayakawa Ren of Japan by 3 -7 points in the second round.
