A four-member Bangladesh team, including coach Mojahidul Haque, will leave for Uzbekistan today to take part in the ITF Asian Under-14 Development Championship, Division-1, scheduled to be held in Tashkent from May 5 to 18.
Mashfia Afrin, Mahadi Hasan Alve and Roman Hasan will represent Bangladesh as members of the ITF team.
Overall six male and six female players from eight countries will take part in the Championship.
The other seven countries are — Mongolia, Pakistan, Lebanon, Iran, Jordan, Kyrgyzstan and Nepal.
The ITF teams will play against each other and against the Asian 14 top-ranked-national teams those qualified to play in the meet.
Afrin, Alve and Roman underwent a month-long training at the Bangladesh Tennis Federation and all three are expected to do well in the competition.
However, this is for the first time a female player — Afrin — is going to represent Bangladesh in the competition as well as three players at a time.
BTF secretary Golam Morshed disclosed the details during a press conference at Dhaka club on Thursday.
