The Appellate Division on Thursday upheld its earlier decision declaring the Modhumoti model town near Amin bazar in the capital as illegal.
The court also rejected Modhumoti model town plot purchasers’ application for directing Modhumoti model town developer, Metro makers and development Ltd to pay them more compensation against their purchased plots.
A seven-member bench headed by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain upheld its earlier verdict given on August 7, 2012 and dismissed all the four petitions filed by Metro makers and development ltd, 45 plots purchasers and their association seeking to review the verdict.
Modhumoti model town was declared as illegal as it was developed illegally by filling wetlands on flood flow zone in violation of the environmental conservation act.
The Modhumoti model town housing project was developed in 2001 and 2004.
