The Department of Economics of American International University-Bangladesh organised its
annual day-long Eco Fest 2019 on the university campus in the capital on 18 April, said a press release.
The theme of this year’s Eco Fest, that featured competition on different economic issues, was ‘Socio Economic Changes in Bangladesh and Global Context’.
Students from twenty-four colleges along with the students of AIUB participated in the event.
Planning minister MA Mannan was chief guest at the closing ceremony and distributed prizes among the winners. Md Nuruzzaman, director for training of National Academy for Planning and Development, was special guest at the fest.
The closing ceremony was also attended by the founder member of AIUB, Hasanul A Hasan, and deans, academic and administrative staff, students, participants from colleges and alumni of the department.
MA Mannan in his speech advised the students to be prepared for the future challenges and requested them to be dedicate themselves to their respective responsibilities, duties and goals.
AIUB vice-chancellor Carmen Z Lamagna encouraged the students to be involved more in extra-curricular and co-curricular activities.
A cultural programme featuring history and culture of Bangladesh was held as part of the closing ceremony.
