Commerce minister Tipu Munshi has asked the divisional commissioners to take necessary steps to keep the supply and prices of essential commodities stable at district and upazila levels during Ramadan which begins in the second week of May.
The minister in a letter on April 17 directed the divisional commissioners to strengthen market monitoring and conducting mobile courts to ensure fair prices of commodities and safe food.
The commerce minister, considering the issue of public health, also asked the field-level administration to conduct mobile courts against food adulteration during Ramadan.
He advised the local administration also to take legal action against hoarders and to ensure smooth transportation of essential commodities across the country.
