Students of Dhaka University on Wednesday demanded immediate expulsion of ‘frauds’ and their collaborators who got admitted to the university allegedly by using illicit ways.
They made the demand at a human chain under the banner of General Students of Dhaka University at Aparajeya Bangla around noon.
Expressing solidarity with the demonstrators, Dhaka University Central Students Union vice-president Nurul Haque Nur demanded permanent expulsion of the frauds from the university and cancellation of certificates of those who have already left the university.
DUCSU vice-president urged the university authorities to make public of the names of those fraud students name and expel them in shortest possible time.
He said that question paper leak become very common phenomenon in recent years but the university authorities failed to curb the crime, even the university’s investigative bodies failed to expose any of such incidents while the press have identified them.
DUCSU social service affairs secretary Akhtar Hossen, who went on hunger strike protesting at the question leak last year, said though the university authorities retaken the exam but they were yet to take any steps to eliminate the syndicate.
Arani Semanti Khan, who contested DUCSU polls independent candidate for vice-president, Bangladesh General Students Rights Protection Council convener Hasan Al Mamun, its joint-conveners Faruk Hossain and Rashed Khan addressed the human chain among others.
After the human chain, students marched towards the vice-chancellor’s office in procession, met vice-chancellor Md Akhtaruzzaman and submitted a memorandum to press home their demands.
