Sylhet district and city units of Bangladesh Nationalist Party would observe a three-day programme from Wednesday marking seven years of enforced disappearance of the party’s former organising secretary M Ilias Ali.
District BNP office secretary Didar Ibne Taher Laskar on Monday night issued a statement in this regard.
According to the statement, a milad and doa mahfil would be held at the shrine mosque of Hazrat Shahjalal (R) after Asr prayers on Wednesday, a memorandum would be handed over to the government through Sylhet deputy commissioner on Thursday in demand of returning BNP’s all disappeared leaders, including Ilias Ali.
Besides, a discussion titled ‘Ill-politics of enforced disappearance and recent Bangladesh’ would be organised at a hotel in the city on April 29, the statement added.
Ilias Ali, a former lawmaker and ex-president of Sylhet district BNP, and his private car driver Ansar Ali were disappeared from Banani in Dhaka in the midnight after April 17, 2012.
