It’s Shaeed vs Sadeque in hockey polls

AKM Mominul Haque Shaeed will fight against Abdus Sadeque for the general secretary post in Bangladesh Hockey Federation elections, scheduled to be held on April 29.
After the announcement of the revised election schedule on April 11, some 12 councilors from Shaeed-led panel on Tuesday withdrew their candidacy from several posts.
Following their withdrawals, there remained 55 candidates left - including one independent vice-president candidate -from two panels to run for 28 posts - five vice-presidents, one secretary, two joint secretaries, one treasurer and 19 executive members.
Shaeed-led panel gave 25 candidates, including 16 executive members, to run in the election while Sadeque-led panel gave 29 candidates with 20 executive member aspirants.
The election was originally scheduled to be held on April 8, but the election commissioner postponed it following a High Court rule over a councillorship of Shishu Kishore Sangha representative Taraque A Adil.
The NSC director and election commissioner Shah Alam Sardar issued the revised the schedule setting the nomination paper withdrawal date on April 16 and the publication of final candidate list on April 18.
