A three-day Baishakhi Fair will begin at Islamic University, Kushtia premises today.
The IU authority has organised the fair marking Pahela Baishakh, the first day of Bengali New Year 1426.
IU vice-chancellor Professor M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari will inaugurate the fair as the chief guest. Among others, IU pro-vice-chancellor Professor M Shahinoor Rahman, treasurer Professor M Selim Toha and acting registrar SM Abdul Latif will be
present at the inaugural programme.
Teachers and students of IU will bring out a colourful Mangal Shobhajatra today in the morning as part of the fair.
The procession will start from in front of the university’s administration building and will end at IU Bangla Mancha.
The Baishakhi Fair will feature a total of 150 stalls featuring traditional craft items, sweets and others, along with cultural shows where local artistes, students and teachers will perform.
