City-Ananda Alo Literary Award conferred

Twelve writers and poets received the ‘City Ananda Alo Sahitya Puroshkar 2019’ at an award-giving ceremony on Channel i premises in the capital’s Tejgaon area on
Monday.
National professor and Bangla Academy president Dr Anisuzzaman was present as the chief guest at the programme and handed over the award to winners. Among others, Bangla Academy director general Habibullah Siraji, Channel i managing director and Ananda Alo editorial board chairman Faridur Reza Sagar, Ananda Alo editor Rezanur Rahman and City Bank managing director and chief executive officer Mashrur Arefin were present at the programme.
Syed Monjurul Islam and Shahaduzzaman received the award in the essay category for their books ‘Koyla Tola O Anyanya’ and ‘Mamlar Sakkhi Moyna Pakhi’ respectively.
Maruful Islam was awarded for ‘Pantum’ and Afzal Hossain was awarded for ’19 Number Kabita Mokam’ in the poetry category.
Professor emeritus Serajul Islam Choudhury and Major General Md Sarwar Hossain were awarded for their books ‘Somoy Bohia Jay’ and ‘1971 Protirodh Songram Bijoy’ respectively in research and liberation war category.
Faruk Moinuddin got the award for his book ‘Sudure Odur Duyar’ in the travel and autobiography category, while Mustafiz Shafi and Mokarom Hossain received the award in children’s literature category for ‘Bhoot Kolyan Samiti’ and ‘Ronger Gachh’ respectively.
Three more writers- Mazharul Islam Haque Faruk Ahmed and Shayra Afrida Oishee also received the award for their debut books in the first book category.
