Anti-tobacco campaigners on Saturday demanded raising tobacco product prices by imposing duties in the national budget for the coming fiscal.
They said that price hikes would discourage consumption of tobacco products.
The anti-tobacco campaigners, among whom were economists, academics and former bureaucrats, voiced the demand at a press conference in Dhaka Reporters Unity, according to a press release.
The press conference was organized with support from Campaign for Tobacco Free Kids on the initiative of PROGGA and Anti-Tobacco Media Alliance.
