Bangladesh Nationalist Party secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Sunday said that they will register protest as far possible for the party against the move of increasing gas tariff.
The secretary general made the remarks at a news briefing at BNP central office saying the party and people would never accept the increasing of gas price.
About recent US state department report on human rights, Fakhrul said real picture came out in the report saying not only US state department’s report, all media across the world including Al Jazeera, CNN and BBC clearly stated that December 30 general election in Bangladesh did not reflect the people’s desire and opinion.
Meanwhile, Fakhrul at the briefing announced week-long programme on the occasion of Independence and National Day to be observed on March 26.
The party will bring out a procession in Dhaka city from in front of BNP central office at 3:00pm on March 27, holding discussion at the Institution of Engineers Bangladesh on March 25, hoisting national and the party flags atop of the BNP central office and all its units office across the country at 6:00am on March 26 and the party’s leaders and activists would go to National Martyrs Memorial in the morning on the day to place wreaths at the altar to pay tribute to the Liberation War martyrs.
BNP’s units at district, metropolitan cities, upazila and municipalities would bring out processions according to the respective units convenience.
Earlier at 11 :00am, a joint meeting of BNP and its front and associate organisations presided over by Fakhrul was held at the party central office to fix the programmes.
BNP leaders including Shamsuzzaman Dudu, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal, Abdus Salam Azad and Munir Hossain were present at the briefing.
