At least five people were killed and 30 others were injured in road accidents in Chattogram, Pabna, Manikganj and Barishal On Thursday.
Our Chattogram correspondent reported that the rider and pillion riders of a motorcycle died as their vehicle hit a tree in Osmanpur area of Joraganj of Mirsarai upazila.
The deceased were identified as Arif Hossain, 30, son of Nurul Abser of Moddham Sonapahar area of Jorarganj, Ismail Hossain, 22, son of Muslim Uddin of Ichakhali and Mehedi Hasan, 28, son of Shah Alam of West Moliash.
Jorarganj police officer-in-charge Md Iftekhar Hossain said that the motorcycle hit a roadside tree while the three were returning from Muhuri Project area, leaving the three dead on the spot.
New Age Pabna correspondent reported that an elderly man was killed as a truck hit his bicycle in Singa by-pass area on Pabna-Dhaka Highway of Pabna Sadar upazila in the afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Sunil Roy, 65, of village Singa Thakurpara of Pabna Sadar upazila.
Pabna Sadar police officer-in-charge Obaidul Haque said that the truck hit Sunil’s bicycle while he was going to Pabna town, leaving him dead on the spot.
According to a report of United News of Bangladesh, a man was killed and 15 others were injured as a bus plunged into a roadside ditch on Dhaka-Aricha Highway of Ghior upazila in Manikganj early Thursday.
Identity of the deceased could not be ascertained immediately.
Highway police OC Yeamin Uddoulla said that a bus of Green Line Paribahan fell into a roadside ditch while giving side to another bus, leaving its helper dead on the spot and 15 others injured.
Of the injured, two were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital as they were in a critical condition while the rest were admitted to local hospitals.
In Barishal, at least 15 people were injured as a bus skidded off to a roadside field at Agailjhara.
Agailjhara police OC Afzal Hossain said that a bus of Golden Line skidded off to a roadside filed in Fulsree by-pass area on Agailjhara-Paisharhat Highway in the morning, leaving 15 of the passengers injured.
