A dialogue between eastern and western traditional music captivated the audience on Tuesday at Radisson blu Bay View Chattogram.
Alliance Francaise Chittagong organised the programme in collaboration with BSRM and supported by Embassy of France.
The show was a rendezvous between two continents and two cultures. It featured a musical dialogue between traditional Bangladeshi Lalon song and contemporary creations of the French composer Laurent Cuniot. Eminent Lalon singer Farida Parveen and her musicians, along with French soprano Hadhoum Tunc and the musicians of the French ensemble TM+ performed at the show.
Farida Parveen presented Lalon’s popular songs including Khanchar bhitor ochin pakhi, Shob loke koy Lalon ki jaat, Barir kachhe arshinagar, Milon hobe koto diney and Ami opar hoye boshe achhi.
In-between Parveen’s presentations, soprano Hadhoum Tunc entertained the audience with French compositions.
Divisional commissioner Chattogram Md Abdul Mannan was present in the event as chief guest.
BSRM managing director Aameir Alihussain, Alliance francaise Chattogram director Selvam Thorez and author Manzur Mohammad of the book Ecoute spoke at the event.
The book was translated into French by Dr Gurupada Chakraborty, deputy director of Alliance Francaise Chattogram.
