The National Board of Revenue will extend the activities of its income tax and value-added tax education forums in schools, colleges and universities across the country to raise awareness about tax payment among the future and potential taxpayers, said a press release.
The revenue board has also taken an initiative to include tax and
VAT issues in the curriculum for schools, colleges, universities and training institutes, said NBR
chairman Md Nojibur Rahman.
He made the comment while inaugurating a day-long discussion and quiz competition for students through video call using Skype from Sylhet.
Tax Education Forum and VAT Education Forum of the NBR organised the programme to create awareness on tax issues among students at Institute of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh on the occasion of observing historic homecoming day of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Development Fair-2017.
Students from Dhaka Residential Model College, Motijheel Government Boys’ High School,
Motijheel Girls’ High School and Government Alia Madrasa and their guardians attended the programme.
NBR members Parvez Iqbal and Rezaul Hassan, BCS Tax Academy
director general Ferdous Alam, and Research and Statistics wing director general, also coordinator of the forums, Belal
Hossain Chowdhury, among others, spoke at the programme.
