Journalists’ entry to courtrooms essential for transparent judiciary: CJ

Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain said Wednesday that journalists must get entry to courtrooms in the interest of transparency in the judiciary.
‘Journalism is now very important across the world,’ he said while inauguration the renovated room of the Law Reporters’ Forum at the Supreme Court Bar Association Bhaban.
The Chief Justice said that a special topic of seminar he had attended in a Turkish city was ‘Journalists should get entry to courtrooms in the interest of transparency in the judiciary’.
The Chief Justice said that he felt happy to inaugurate a well-furnished journalists’ room in keeping with his commitment.
Chaired by the LRF’s president Sayeed Ahmad Khan, the inauguration was attended by Supreme Court Bar Association president Zainul Abedin, additional attorney general Mohammad Momotazuddin Fakir, SC registrar general Zakir Hossain and HCD registrar Golam Rabbani besides journalists assigned to cover SC proceedingsa.
LRF general secretary Rafiqul Hasan Zabed moderated the inauguration.
