Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader on Sunday called on the party’s Dhaka City leaders and activists to refrain from increasing the sufferings of city dwellers during the party’s programmes.
‘We will hold a rally on January 10 at Suhrawary Udyan and you will not block the entire road while joining the rally in processions,’ Quader said while addressing a joint meeting at Colony Bazar in Tejgaon in the city.
Dhaka City Awami League north organised the joint meeting to make the Surwardy Udyan rally successful . The rally will be held marking the home coming day of the country’s founding president Sheikh Mujibur Rahman where home minister and also local MP Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal chaired.
Quader instructed the party leaders and activists refrain from making any misconduct with people as it would tarnish the party’s image.
He also urged the leaders and activists of the party to start the preparations for the next general elections to be held in 2019.
‘You should go door to door inform them of the development works initiated by the Awami League led government of Sheikh Hasina,’ Quader said.
‘Remember that Awami League is a pro-people political party that works to serve the people and decreasing sufferings of the people,’ Quader added.
He called on the party leaders and activists not to undermine the BNP as opposition political party as they had got good number of votes in Narayanganj City Corporation election.
Home minister Asaduzzaman said the people would vote Awami League in the next general elections for continuation of the development works in the country.
Sadek Khan, general secretary of the Dhaka City south called on the party leaders and activists to join in January 10 rally.
