Four Israeli soldiers were killed when they were run down by a truck in Jerusalem on Sunday in what police were treating as a deliberate attack, a medic at the scene told AFP.
He said the driver, whose identity has not been confirmed, was also killed in the incident in west Jerusalem.
BBC said at least 15 were also injured in the attack.
The attack occurred on a popular promenade overlooking the walled Old City of Jerusalem.
‘It is a terrorist attack, a ramming attack,’ a police spokeswoman said on Israel Radio, which reported that bodies were ‘strewn on the street’.
Authorities did not immediately give the number or severity of the casualties or the identity of the driver, who they said was ‘neutralised’ without providing further details.
The attack comes weeks after 12 people died in a lorry attack in Berlin.
