Reputed English medium school in the country Scholastica is going to organise a two-day Inter-school Theatre Festival marking International Mother Language Day at its Uttara Campus auditorium.
The festival, featuring six plays by six schools, will kick off tomorrow morning with a show of Munier Chowdhury’s seminal language movement play Kabor by the students of Scholastica (Uttara).
‘This is for the second consecutive year that we are organising an Inter-school Theatre Festival to promote theatre among school students. We think theatre is one of the staple cultural elements that can help students develop themselves as enlightened citizens,’ said Brig Gen (retd) Kaiser Ahmed, principal of senior section Scholastica (Uttara), at a press conference held at Green Lounge restaurant in the capital.
‘Through this festival, we hope to encourage students of not only Scholastica but also of other schools and institutes to come forward and engage in cultural activities, which, we think, are must for a healthy upbringing,’ added Ahmed.
The press conference was also attended by Kazi Toufikul Islam Emon, senior drama faculty of Scholastica (Uttara), Arif Ahmed Khan, manager of students’ affairs and events and others.
Besides Scholastica (Uttara), the festival will feature plays by International Hope School, Notre Dame College, Viqarunnisa Noon School & College, Hurdco International School and Scholastica (Mirpur).
