Artistes celebrated the advent of spring presenting songs and dances at a programme held on Dhaka University campus on Thursday.
The programme titled ‘Celebrating Spring and Friendship’ was jointly organised by EMK Center and dance department of DU under the banyan tree in front of the DU arts building.
The programme marked the 47th anniversary of plantation of the tree by late US senator Edward M Kennedy.
Artistes entertained the audience presenting group and solo performances.
In chorus, Shurer Dhara artistes rendered Aj phagune agun legeche bone bone while DU music department students rendered songs like Moner akashe phagun legeche and Tomra kunja sajao go.
DU dance department students presented group dance recitals synchronised with the songs Dola legeche, Bashonti bhubana mohini, Dui hatey kaler mondira, Aj phagune agun lagey and others.
Kangalini Sufia, baul Shafi Mondol enthralled the audience rendering popular folk songs.
Dhaka University dance department chairperson Rezwana Choudhury Bannya, Dhaka University vice chancellor Md Aktaruzzaman, professor of University of Liberal Arts Imran Rahman, EMK Center director Naveed Akbar and US ambassador to Bangladesh Earl R. Miller were present as guests at the event.
