Bangladesh government will give Bangladesh Football Federation full support to organnise the maiden Bangamata Under-19 Women’s International Gold Cup football, planning minister MA Mannan said at press conference of Tuesday.
The six-nation tournament is scheduled to be held in Dhaka from April 23 to May 3.
The minister came up with the promise while speaking as the chief guest during the signing ceremony of the telecast rights of the tournament between satellite channel Rtv and commercial right holders K-Sports at the BFF House.
‘We [government] are willing to spend the highest possible amount for the development of sports,’ said the minister.
Mannan claimed that the development work is going on in all areas under the leadership of prime minister Sheikh Hasina. BFF president Kazi Salahuddin sought support for the development of women’s football.
‘Girls are making great progress in football. They will do better in future. That’s why we need cooperation,’ said Salahuddin. CEO of Rtv, Syed Ashid Rahman and Fahad M Karim, chief executive officer of K-Sports signed the telecast rights on behalf of both the organisations.
BFF women’s wing chairman and FIFA Council member Mahfuza Akter Kiron, BFF senior vice-president Abdus Salam Murshedy were also present on the occasion.
