At least three people were killed and four injured as a microbus was hit by a covered van in Nizampur area of Mirsharai in Chattogram on Tuesday morning.
Abdur Rahman, 65, and his wife Kulsum Begum, 55, and the microbus driver were the deceased, but the identity of the driver could not be confirmed immediately.
The injured are Mohammad Rashed Rony, 12, and Rasel, 10, both are grandchildren of Abdur Rahman and Kulsum Begum, and Abul Kalam, and Mohammad Malek.
Mirsarai police officer-in-charge Zahedul Kabir said that the incident took place near Nizampur College on the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway.
On information, fire fighters went to the spot, sent the bodies to a hospital morgue for post-mortem examinations and took the injured in hospital.
Fire Service and Civil Defence deputy assistant director Md Jashim Uddin said that both the microbus and the covered van were on their way to Chattogram.
Gas cylinder of the microbus exploded and it caught fire after being hit by the covered van at about 7:00am, the fire service official said. 
‘There were seven passengers inside the microbus. Fire fighters have rescued two boys —Rony and Rasel, alive. They were admitted to a hospital. The other two passengers managed to get off the vehicle,’ he added.
