The Anti-Corruption Commission on Monday recovered a pajero jeep which had been being illegally used by an employee’s union leader of Bangladesh Power Development Board for the last nine years.
CBA leader Alauddin Mia, a third grade employee of the PDB, did not hand over the vehicle to the PDB though he retired from his job in the last year.
Alauddin had been using the vehicle since 2012, ACC director general Muhammad Munir Chowdhury said while talking to reporters at his office.
He said that an ACC team recovered the jeep conducting a drive in the capital’s Motijheel area.
The PDB spent around Tk 35 lakh as fuel cost and around Tk 40 lakh as driver’s salary of the vehicle in last nine years, the ACC official said.
The commission decided to launch an investigation in this regard, he added.
Alauddin, a steno typist of PDB, was secretary of the employee’s union and he used to use the pajero jeep which was allocated for a joint secretary level officer.
ACC officials handed the vehicle over to the PDB officials in front of the ACC headquarters.
PDB deputy director for transport Kamrul Hossain received the key of the vehicle and said that the authorities would investigate the incident.
