BPICC urges govt to create poultry regulatory body

The Bangladesh Poultry Industries Association on Monday requested the government for creating a special wing dedicated to deal with flourishing poultry business.
They said that the business already grew up to be worth Tk 35,000 crore and was still growing.
‘We request the government for creating a poultry board,’ said BPICC convener Moshiur Rahman.
He said that it was necessary to regulate poultry business to make it sustainable and safe
to human health and environment.
The BPICC awarded 19 journalists for focusing their work on poultry industry last year. The journalists were from print and digital media.
The award giving ceremony was held at the National Press Club in Dhaka in the morning.
Feed Industries Association president Ihtesham B Shahjahan said that poultry came second to readymade garment
industry in creating employment opportunities in the country.
‘We need to take care of the sector unless it would die,’ said Ihtesham.
The programme was also attended by senior journalists from different media establishments.
