Car crash kills three army personnel in Noakhali

At least three Bangladesh Army personnel were killed and nine more were injured when a jeep fell into a roadside canal on Sonapur-Chairman Ghat road at Totar Bazar area under Charbata union in Subarnachar upazila on Friday.
The deceased were primarily identified as 21 engineering battalion’s soldiers Mamunul, Feroj and Foyez.
Char Jabbar police station officer-in-charge Md Shahed Uddin said that around 4:30pm an army personnel-laden jeep was on its way to Swarnodip in Noakhali.
The jeep fell into a roadside canal when it was trying to dodge an army personnel-laden truck that came from the opposite.
Following the accident, when eleven army personnel were taken to Subarnachar Upazila Health Complex, on duty physicians declared three as dead.
After getting primary treatment nine injured army personnel were sent to Dhaka for more treatment.
The bodies were also sent to the capital.
Locals alleged that the Sonapur-Chairman Ghat road was very risky and too narrow for movement of vehicles.
