A Chattogram court on Wednesday sent, sub-inspector Khandakar Saif of Bakolia Police Station, to jail in a case filed over recovery of Yaba tablets from his house.
Chattogram Metropolitan Police assistant commissioner Kazi Sahab Uddin Ahmed said that on July 30 last year, a team of Rapid Action Battalion recovered 14,100 pieces of Yaba tablets from Saif’s house at Hafeznagar area of Bakali Chattogram.
They also recovered four mobile phones and three tabs from his house worth Tk 2,31,630.
During the drive, Saif was on duty in Bakalia police station. Later, he fled away from the police station.
On July 30, he was suspended and CMP formed a probe committee led by Chawkbazar zone assistant commissioner Nobel Chakma to investigate the matter.
At last on Wednesday Saif surrendered to the court and metropolitan magistrate Md Sarwar Jahan’s court sent him to jail.
