Police SI lands in jail in Chattogram yaba case

A Chattogram court on Wednesday sent sub-inspector Khandakar Saif of Bakalia police station to jail in a case filed over the recovery of yaba from his house.

Chattogram Metropolitan Police assistant commissioner Kazi Sahab Uddin Ahmed said on July 30 last year, a team of Rapid Action Battalion had recovered 14,100 pieces of yaba from Saif’s house at Hafeznagar area of Bakalia.

They also recovered four mobile phones and three tabs from his house worth of Tk 2,31,630.

During the drive, Saif was on duty in Bakalia thana. Getting the information of raid, he pretended sickness. Then he absconded from thana.

On July 30, he was suspended. CMP formed a probe committee to investigate the matter led by Chawkbazar zone assistant commissioner Nobel Chakma.

On Wednesday, Saif surrendered to the court and the metropolitan magistrate Md Sarwar Jahan sent him to jail.
