The United States is warning about travel to Bangladesh and tightening restrictions on family members accompanying US government officials posted in the South Asian country.
In its warning message, the State Department on Thursday, says that threats from terrorist groups in Bangladesh is continuing for US citizens and it considers the risks of travel to and throughout the country.
The Department is updating this Travel Warning to reflect the change in the US Embassy in Dhaka’s status to ‘partially accompanied,’ effective January 5, 2017, allowing only employed adult family, according to US Embassy in Dhaka.
The moderate Muslim nation has seen a wave of extremist violence since 2015. An attack in July last year on a Dhaka restaurant popular with foreigners killed 20 hostages, including one American.
