Elderly woman killed in city road mishap

An elderly woman was declared dead at Dhaka Medical College Hospital Friday evening about two hours after she and her daughter and granddaughter were hit by a bus on Mazar Road under Darus Salam police station in Dhaka at about 7:30pm.

The deceased was Rahima Begum, 55, of village Kholabaria under Natore Sadar upazila.

Her daughter Rahima Begum, 55, and granddaughter Megha Moni, 9, are now undergoing treatment at the hospital, hospital police outpost in-charge Bachchu Mia said.

The victim’s relative Sohel Rana said the three met the accident on way to the residence of Rahima’s son at Mohammadpur in Dhaka after getting down from their bus from Natore.

The locals took the three to a nearby hospital from where they were shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where on-duty doctors declared Rahima dead at about 9:30pm, he said.
