Eminent writer-researcher-cultural activist Sanjida Khatun, best known for her works on Rabindranath Tagore, has written on the diverse aspects of the national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam in her recent book named ‘Nazrul-Manash’.
The book, published by Nabajug Prakashani, was launched through a programme held on Tuesday at Nazrul Institute auditorium. Bangla Academy director general Habibullah Siraji, Nazrul Institute executive director Abdur Razzak Bhuiyan and Dhaka University professor Begum Akhter Kamal attended the programme as discussants.
National Professor Rafiqul Islam presided over the programme.
‘Sanjida Khatun’s father Qazi Motahar Hossain was a close friend of Kazi Nazrul Islam. Nazrul frequented Hossain’s house and had a lasting relation. It is a pleasure for Nazrul fans to get such a book on Nazrul by Sanjida Khatun,’ said Rafiqul Islam.
‘Nazrul-Manash is a very well-written and well informed book evaluating Nazrul’s versatile talent and eventful life,’ said Begum Akhter Kamal.
‘In the book, I have focused on diverse aspects of our national poet- his songs, novels, modernism in his writings, his life and also on his connection to my family,’ said Sanjida Khatun.
The 112-page book is priced at Tk 220 and will be available at the Ekushey Book Fair.
