Four writers have been named winners of the prestigious ‘Bangla Academy Sahitya Puraskar’ for their outstanding contributions to different branches of literature.
Bangla Academy director general Habibullah Siraji announced the names at a press conference held on
Monday at Munier Chowdhury seminar room of the academy.
The recipients are Kazi Rosy for poetry, Mohit Kamal for fiction, Syed Mohammad Shahed for essay/ research and Afsan Chowdhury for literature on liberation war.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will hand over the awards to the recipients at the inauguration
ceremony of the upcoming Ekushey Book Fair on February 1.
Each winner of the Bangla Academy Sahitya Puraskar will get Tk 2 lakh cash prize, a crest and a certificate.
