6,165 cases filed in DMP traffic drive Tuesday

Traffic department of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police filed 6,165 cases and realised Tk 28.71 lakh in fines during drives conducted in the capital on Tuesday for flouting traffic rules.
Thirty vehicles were sent for dumping during the drive.
Among the cases, 1,119 were lodged for driving on the wrong side, 109 for using hydraulic horns, and 19 for using tinted glass.
Cases were filed against 3,560 motorcycles for violation of traffic rules while 151 bikes were seized during the drive, said DMP deputy commissioner (media) Masudur Rahman.
He said that 26 cases were also filed against drivers for using mobile phones while driving.
