A research book on one hundred Tagore songs, edited by eminent Tagore researcher and Chhayanut president Sanjida Khatun, was launched at a programme held on Thursday at Ramesh Chandra Dutt Memorial Auditorium of Chhayanaut Cultural Centre in Dhanmondi.
The book titled ‘Geetabitan: Tathya O Bhabosondhan’ has been published by Chhayanaut. It includes information about time of writing, place of writing, publication date, composition and others, along with literary meaning of the songs.
Sanjida Khatun has explained the 100 songs included in the book, while the information about the songs have been researched and collected by Quamrul Haider.
National professor Dr Anisuzzaman was present as the chief guest at the book launch, while eminent Tagore singer Rezwana Choudhury Bannya and Dhaka University’s Bangla department chairman Bismadeb Chowdhury were present as discussants.
‘The book will help Tagore singers, researchers and general readers too. I thank Chhayanaut for publishing such a well-researched book on Tagore songs,’ said Dr Anisuzzaman.
‘From Chhayanuat, we published a small book containing information about 15 Tagore songs eight years back. The book was well-received by readers, singers and researchers. I hope Tagore enthusiasts, and singers will immensely benefit from this new book,’ said Sanjida Khatun, adding that Chhayanut will later publish more editions of the book covering other Tagore songs.
‘Being a singer, I can assure that this book is a must read for Tagore singers,’ said Rezwana Choudhury Bannya.
