Five killed in Ctg, Pabna, Bogura accidents

Five people, including a college student, were killed in road accidents in Chattogram, Pabna and Bogura on Wednesday.
In Chattogram, a college girl died being run over by a lorry in Kotwali area of the city in the morning, reported New Age district correspondent.
The victim was identified as Soma Borua, 18, a 2nd-year student of Government City College of Chattogram and resident of Boakhali upazila.
Kotwali police officer-in-charge Md Mohoshin said that the lorry ran over the victim while she was crossing the road in Kotwali area on her way to college at about 9:45am.
Chattogram Medical College and Hospital police outpost assistant sub-inspector Alauddin Talukder said that local people brought Soma to the hospital where doctors declared her dead.
The police arrested the driver and seized the vehicle, he added.
In Pabna, three people were killed in two incidents in Chatmohar upazila, said our correspondent in Pabna.
Two people, including a minor boy, were killed in a head-on collision between an auto-rickshaw and a human hauler in Chhaikula area of Chatmohar in the evening.  
The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.
Local people rescued them and took them to Chatmohar Upazila Health Complex where they died from their injuries.
A case was filed.
In another incident, a man was killed being run over by a covered van at Ramnagar Ghat of the upazila early Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Rabban Ali, 65, resident of village Ramnagar Ghat.
Quoting local union parishad member Shahidul Islam Topu, Chatmohor police inspector Shariful Islam said that a group of buffalo lifters swooped on Ershad Ali’s house at village Charigram of the upazila at about 4:00am.
As the miscreants were trying to leave the scene with the buffalo, local people tried to stop the buffalo-laden pick-up van which ploughed through the crowd, leaving Rabban Ali dead on the spot.
The police recovered the body and sent it to a local hospital morgue for postmortem examinations, said the inspector.
A case was filed, the police said.
In Bogura, a motorcyclist was killed being hit by a soil-laden truck in Shikarpur area of Sadar upashahar in the afternoon, reported our Bogura correspondent.
The deceased was identified as Anisar Paikar, resident of village Shikarpur of Sadar upazila.
The police, quoting local people, said that Anisar was hit by the truck while he was returning his house from a local market. He died on the spot.
Local people caught the truck driver, Monnaf, and handed him over to the police, said Sadar police sub-inspector Khorshed Alam.
