At least 35 shops were burnt in a fire that broke out at Elish Junction Bazar in Bhola on Saturday night.

The fire broke out from an electric short circuit at ‘Amir Workshop’ at around 9:15am and engulfed adjoining shops numbering around 35 including two electronics showrooms, three electric shops, three mobile showrooms and two hardware shops, said Md Jakir Hossain, deputy assistant director of Bhola Fire Service and Civil Defence.

On information, six firefighting units from Sadar, Burhanuddin, Lalmohan and Char Fassion rushed in and extinguished the fire after two hours of frantic efforts.

The victims claimed the loss caused by the fire was estimated Tk 6 to 7 crore.
