Members of the Police Bureau of Investigation arrested a man at Moulvi Pukurpara under Chatgaon police station in Chattogram city early Saturday on charge of the killing his wife in Noakhali Sadar upazila on Wednesday night.
The arrested was Sheikh Selim, 29, hailing from Lohagara upazila in Narail, and he worked as mason in Chattogram.
Noakhali superintendent of police Md Elias Sharif said that a team of PBI conducted a drive in the area and arrested Selim.
Later, Selim confessed to the police that he was involved in the murder.
Police recovered the severely hacked and slaughtered body of Parvin Akhter Fahima, 17, daughter of Jahurul Haque of village Purba Sullukia, from a jungle adjacent to her house on Wednesday night.
Later, PBI started investigation into the murder.
After tracking phone number of Selim, PBI confirmed his location and arrested him.
Selim informed that he and Fahima got married when they used to work in a garment factory in Chattogram.
Knowing about his first marriage Fahima denied to stay with Selim and came back to Noakhali.
On Wednesday, Selim came to Noakhli and called Fahima out of her house.
He took her to the jungle and killed her, he confessed to the PBI team.
