Awami League general secretary and road transport and bridges minister Obaidul Quader on Saturday said the national council of his party would be held in October this year.
‘Awami League national council will be held in next October. Before that no council will be held,’ he said while talking to journalists after inspecting the activities of mobile court on Manik Mia Avenue in the capital.
Replying to a question about dialogue with Jatiya Oikya Front, Quader said, ‘The developed democratic countries have extended their supports to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina within a short time. So, the demand for holding dialogue is irrelevant and irrational’.
Sheikh Hasina has received greetings from world leaders before formation of the new government, he said, adding that no question and controversy arose over the last general election.
Stressing on increasing people’s awareness about road accident, the road transport and bridges minister said sometimes the passengers also act like reckless drivers causing road accidents.
Journalists also should be aware of the road accidents and campaign should be carried out to increase awareness in this regard, Quader said. Responding to a query, he said activities of the mobile court will be strengthened further in a bid to bring discipline on the roads.
