Land minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury on Saturday ordered all officials of land ministry from grassroots to ministry to submit their assets documents by February 28 aiming to end corruption in Bangladesh's land administration.
He said these in a view exchange with journalists at Bangabandhu Hall of Chattogram Press Club.
The minister said that the government is going to bring all land officials including thana and upazila land offices across Bangladesh under CCTV surveillance.
He said all the officers will be monitored electronically and there will be voice recording system to end all sorts of corruption.
‘Officials of land ministry who are yet to change their ill motives, will have to leave,’ said the minister.
He said that once upon time land ministry was dumping station of corrupt and inefficient officials in reality it is a very important ministry.
Saifuzzaman said harassment of people still exists in land offices but citizens will get the desired services from the ministry gradually as field-level land offices will be brought under automation.
He also promised to allocate money for the eviction of illegal occupants on the bank of River Karnaphuli to save the river from illegal encroachment.
Chattogram Press Club president Kalim Sarwar, general secretary Suklal Das, Chattogram Union of Journalist president Nazimuddin Shyamol and general secretary Hasan Ferdous also spoke among others in the view exchange meeting.
