A man, who remained missing since January 4, was found dead in a septic tank at West Madhugram in Chagalnaiya upazila of Feni on Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Abul Kalam, 55, a retired army man.
MM Murshed, officer-in-charge of Chagalnaiya police station, said that Abul Kalam went missing on January 4 after his first wife and their five children went to his in-law’s house.
On Thursday, Rekha and the children returned home and found the doors of the house open.
Sensing something wrong, she called Kalam over the mobile phone but found it switched off.
Later, Kalam’s sister-in-law Parveen Akter found the lids of the septic tank open and found Kalam’s body inside.
On information, the police recovered the body and sent it to a local hospital morgue.
The police also detained Rekha and two others for interrogation.
Quoting neighbours, the police said that Kalam and Rekha used to fight over Kalam’s second marriage and the couple had an altercation over the issue on January 4.
