Bangladesh’s Mahadi Hasan Alve moved into the boys’ singles final of the ITF Asian Under-14 Development Tennis Championship, Division 2 when he beat Iran’s Amirali Ghavam by 6-4, 6-1 sets in the semi-final in Bangkok on Friday. Alve will meet Jordan’s Mohammad Alkotop, who beat Nepal’s Aryan Giri in the other semi-final by 2-6, 6-0, 6-0 sets, in today’s final. In the boys’ doubles semi-final, Bangladesh’s Roman Hossain and Pakistan’s Hamid Israr Gul pair reached the final when they beat Nepali pair Aryan Giri and Aarav Hada by 3-6, 7-6, 10-8 sets. Roman and Hamid pair will take on Iranian pair Amirali Ghavam and Kasra Rahmani, who beat Jordanian pair Mohammad Alkotop and Zaid Mashni in the other semi-final by 6-3,6-4 sets, in the final. Meanwhile, in the girls’ doubles semi-final , Bangladesh’s Sadia Afrin and Suborna Khatun pair lost to Mongolian pair Maralgoo Chogsomjav and Chogsomjav Martaa by 6-0, 6-1 points. Another Bangladeshi player Mashfia Afrin, who paired with Nepali player Shubhangee Laxmi Shah, also failed to reach the final of the girls’ doubles event when they lost to Maria Breidy [Lebanon] and Dorsa Cheraghi [Iran] pair in other semi-final by 6-3, 6-1 sets. — New Age
