A youth on Friday reportedly confessed to setting fire to an Awami League election camp at Pallabi in Dhaka.
Pallabi police station sub-inspector Munshi Shahidul Islam, also the investigation officer of the case, produced the youth, Wasim, before the court in a case for setting fire to the AL election camp.
Dhaka metropolitan magistrate Mohammad Jasim Uddin recorded the statement of Wasim and sent him to jail.
Pallabi general recording officer sub-inspector Altaf Hossain said that Wasim said in the statement that a Bangladesh Nationalist Party leader gave him Tk 500 to set fire to the AL election camp.
Earlier, he was arrested by a Pallabi police team in Bihari Camp area of Pallabi early Thursday.
