Detectives early Friday arrested another suspect from Gouripur in Cumilla in the case of gang rape of a woman at Subarnachar in Noakhali, allegedly by ruling Awami League activists for casting her vote for Bangladesh Nationalist Party on December 30 general election.
The arrested was identified as Jamaluddin alias Henju Majhi, 29, an accused of the case, police said. Police inspector of Noakhali Detective Branch Abul Khayer said acting on a tip-off, a team of DB police conducted a drive in Gouripur and arrested Henju Majhi, who remained absconding since the incident came to light.
With this, 11 people so far were arrested over the gang rape case, which sparked widespread protests and criticism.
Earlier, a total of four accused- Salauddin, Abul Hossain, Mohammad Sohel and Jashim Uddin - made confessional statement over the gang rape.
The 35-year old mother of four became victim of gang rape on the night of December 30 by ruling Awami League activists for casting her vote for BNP.
