A man, who remained missing since January 4, was found dead in a septic tank at West Madhugram of Chhagalnaiya in Feni on Thursday.

The deceased was Abul Kalam, 55, a retired army man.

MM Murshed, officer-in-charge of Chhagalnaiya Police Station, said Abul Kalam went missing on January 4 after his first wife Rekha along with their five children went to his in-law’s house.

On Thursday, Rekha along with her children returned home and found the doors of the house opened. Sensing something wrong, she called Kalam over mobile phone but found it switched off.

Later on Thursday, Parveen Akter, sister-in-law of Kalam, found the lids of the septic tank open where she unearthed the body of Kalam.

On information, police recovered the body and sent it to a local hospital morgue.

Police also detained Rekha and two others for interrogation.

Quoting neighbours, police said Kalam and Rekha used to fight over second marriage of Kalam and on January 4 the couple locked into an altercation over the issue.
