Savar- based theatre troupe Jagoroni Theatre staged its acclaimed play Ami O Shyama on Wednesday at Studio Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
The play, written and directed by Aniket Paul, depicts the life of 15th century German artist Albrecht Dürer and his artistic journey.
Ami O Shyama revolves around an artist named Albrecht Amor. The play brings to light how Amor’s near and dear ones supported his artistic pursuits. His brother Albert, other family members and friends sacrificed a lot to support Amor.
At one stage of the play, Amor meets Shyama, daughter of Anil, while studying fine arts. The two get in a relationship. However, when Amor proposes marriage Shyama turns him down.
In the end Amor realises that Shyama’s refusal is her sacrifice. He decides to dedicate his life completely to art.
Soron Shaha enacted the role of Amor, Munira Rahman Aboni enacted the role of Shyama and Arif Khan enacted the role of Albert.
