Dhaka Metropolitan Police on Thursday claimed they arrested the youth who set fire to a police vehicle near Bangladesh Nationalist Party office at Naya Paltan in the capital during a clash between the police and BNP activists on November 14, 2018.

‘Pallabi police arrested the youth namely Wasim, 28, today. He set fire to the car with a match box,’ DMP additional deputy commissioner (media) Md Obaidur Rahman told New Age.

On November 14, a pitched battle between police and BNP activists in the Dhaka left dozens, including cops, injured and a number of vehicles burnt while BNP’s nomination paper sale was in progress for the third day.

The clashes erupted in front of BNP central office at Naya Paltan when police reportedly tried to make way for traffic through crowds of leaders and activists who gathered there.
