A methane explosion in a Czech coal mine killed 13 miners, including 11 Polish nationals and two Czechs, mine operator OKD said on Friday.
The state-run company said late on Thursday that the blast, more than 800 metres (875 yards) underground, had devastated large areas of the CSM coalmine, near the town of Karvina.
