Saiful elected president, Farida gen secy of National Press Club

The panel led by Saiful Alam of the Daily Jugantar and Farida Yasmin of the Daily Ittefaq swept the election to the executive committee of the National Press Club held on Tuesday, bagging 13 out of 17 posts.
Saiful Alam was elected president with 621 votes beating his nearest rival Shawkat Mahmud who got 431 votes. Farida was elected general secretary with 569 votes beating her nearest rival Ilias Khan who got 406 votes.
Senior journalist Omar Farroque was elected senior vice-president with 442 votes while Azizul Islam Bhuiyan vice-president who got 554 votes.
The other office bearers of the 17-member JPC executive committee were joint secretaries Shahed Chowdhury (599) and Mainul Alam (554), treasurer Shyamal Dutta (593) and members Kuddus Afrad (515), Shahmsuddin Ahmed Charu (507), Rezwanul Haque Raza (484), Shahnaz Begum ((462), Sanaul Haque (442), Kalyan Saha (439), Jahiduzzaman Farroque (429), Syed Abdal Ahmed (417), Bakhtiar Rana (401) and Hasan Arefin (391).
Voting to the National Press Club election was held from 9:00am to 5:00pm without any break.
