At least three people were killed and four others injured in a head-on collision between a Mahindra three-wheeler and bus at Pakutia under Ghatail on Tangail-Mymensingh Highway at about 11:30am on Monday.

The deceased were identified as Shyamal, 32, son of Younus Ali of Beara village of the upazila, three-wheeler driver Shamsu, 45 and identity of other could not be identified immediately.

Officer-in-charge of Ghatail police station Md Maksudul Haque said the accident took place when a Mymensingh-bound bus of New Solar Paribahan from Pabna collided head-on with a three-wheeler, leaving one dead on the spot and six others injured.

The injured were taken to Ghatail Upazila Health Complex where on-duty doctor declared the driver and another one dead.

Police seized the bus and the three-wheeler but the driver of the bus and his assistant managed to flee away.
